Identity theft at John Chow

I’ve been violated and I feel terrible. I just don’t know how I’m going to get over this. It happened on one late evening while I was guru worshiping at John Chow. This comment was written by Jake Stone - that’s me! Didn’t strike as one of my own…

I checked if I had taken my Alzheimer’s medication and I noticed that I did take it or did I… I seem to have trouble to remember. Now, how come I didn’t remember writing the comment? I followed the link and found a free blogspot blog that was built on PLR articles. Name of the poster was Aaron. Clever tactics to use my name since I don’t make any special efforts to identify my alter ego.

Anyway this was the first time that I have been in a situation where someone has taken my identity and tried to use it to make money. Actually it is very fitting as my blog is named according fake money. Little did this Aaron dude know that I have infamously shitty brand and I can turn even huge traffic flows into a 404 error overnight, so it probably made no money for him.

I don’t want to be played with while picking up the soap, so my only course of action is to protect myself by using Gravatar. My hansom face will make it clear that there can be only one Jake Stone.

I have noticed this trend more and more. Hopefully having your gravatar will eliminate this problem but it does show how cunning some of the scams are getting. Hopefully JC was able to remove the comment left by the impostor. Another thing I have started to see is larger sites asking users to register one time before posting at all. They have really reduced spam and been able to curtail identity theft.

Hi Aman, I don’t really mind about the impostor. Nasty things make them come back as an ant or a butcher in the next life, so their choice of future is fine by me. However, like Melody here says, my bad reputation is on the line… I can’t bare the idea of my name recommending some trashy eyeglasses or what was it…
I could and I will recommend many other trashy services and products, but I’d like to choose them by myself.
And yes, bigger sites are using registration. But when you look around you notice that it’s not exactly jam packed here I’d say that it would just create a barrier for entering these few comments that I get. Thanks for them by the way.

I have some fantastic UFO photos that I took while I was trekking on the mountains of middle Taiwan. I’ll get them online this weekend, then you’ll know that UFOs are real. Then to that gravatar… I’ll do it this weekend, I swear.
