Sunday, June 14, 2009 0:48It was a tough week. Me hat goes off to all project sales people who have to spend time with their customers for days and even weeks. It is really difficult to maintain at least some degree of negotiation distance from the customer when you share your life with them for a period of time. When you get too close to a customer you risk liking them just a tad too much and end up giving concessions that you really can’t afford to. I’m glad to report that I gave them nothing, but then again I got no sale. Huh, sometimes it goes like this.
UPSIDE
Sometimes hard work doesn’t lead to anything but pounding jackhammer hangover. To my surprise I got a very easy sale waiting for me in an email this morning just by giving good service to a prospect. Now I have one customer more and two prospects less. Nothing more to learn here but to keep pushing, some of them you close some of them shall fly free.
