Sellwell 1 - Wear an uniform
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 23:55You don’t have to go to work dressed as a fireman if you sell insurances. However you have to wear something that will make your potential customer feel comfortable. Door to door salesmen and saleswomen tend to have slightly scruffy look and boy are they normal or what? It is not surprise that used car dealers have blue shirts with top button open.
TRUST AND EASE
These two things are what you gain by wearing stereotyped sales uniform. Remember though that positive stereotype can (and usually does) have negative downside, but that you just have to tackle with your personal sales skills.
TRICK THEM
Sometimes we like to believe that there is a shortcut, which takes us to the next deal especially fast. This usually occurs when we decide to run a little deception. I bet a telemarketer has sometimes called you and started by greeting with extremely familiar tone. At the very moment when the topic turns to ordering the lead shifts into enforced defence. That defence line is impossible to breach. On longterm, better results come with upfront approach instead of trickery. Wear a uniform and ask for sale.
