Actually I made 3 sales today, but two of them were small only about seven thousand euros per order, which makes them too small to mention. The curious thing is that while I take a look at my statistics it is clear that small deals comprise about half of my sales volume. I have to work as much for them as I have to work for signing a big sale.

WHY DO WE BELIEVE IN IMAGINARY?
Too often the small customer is forgotten, because our mind is wondering after gigantic day dreams. We will very rarely get those deals, not because we are complete failures as salespeople, but because nobody gets those deals. That deal, which is supposed to set us for life is a fable, which is projected by our inner need to have a belief system. Some people believe in god and some believe in that huge deal that is so close that you can smell it. Not surprisingly the most religious people that I have ever met have been working in sales.

RAMBLE ON
How did this happen? I started by celebrating my sale and rambled on to general sales and then religion. Should I now tackle with politics? Or maybe I should take a much more obvious road and tell you why I got my biggest signature…

LISTEN
For bloggers it is a stretch to shut up. Output is the only thing that generates traffic that in turn generates money. I had to fight with myself to heed my own advice. I was silent and my prospect used the pause to start a story. I learned how he plans to go on a snowmobile safari and its meaning to him. He had a brilliant story to share and I for sure didn’t know a shit about the topic. I was totally floored, I had nothing to say and while my brain was feverishly grasping straws to find a way to change the direction of the conversation… he stopped and asked where to sing… Yeah, I’m just that great a salesman. Ha!

LESSON
Don’t always push so hard.
