Finnish companies don’t know how to sell on web

So I had this need to find any supplier for a beautiful but challenging structural glass system (at that point we were calling them those beautiful glass walls that you see). We were in a meeting - my boss and I plus the buyers. Totally innocent question and I gave a totally innocent answer “Sure, I’ll check how much they are and how to get them. You just go on and have a lunch. I’ll just grab a sandwich and be waiting with the info when you return.”

I’LL JUST GOOGLE IT

There I was with my man The Google - piece of cake - or so I thought. Now what do you know… apparently

those beautiful glass walls that you see

has zero exact matches. Guess they are not that popular after all. Google it to see it for yourself. I was offered with fascinating results on stained glass, gorgeous tiles, marvelous mosaics and blown glass. Do I have to point out that those results really blew…

GRINDING

I really like the word grinding it has something deeply religious in it. How we ask to be hit one more time to get 21 but then the dealer wins anyway. Well, I got grinding. I dropped the fancy stuff and went for the physical product with moderate luck, however those companies sold standard products. Why is it that you have to be an indie to find indie stuff?

GETTING WARMER

Time was passing and I was sweating, not like a fountain, but like in a “love your taste” kind of a way. Systems, solutions, products - none of these words mean a shit in search engines. For goodness sake, please use terms that are understood. Luckily I was moving forward and picked up some useful terms. And if you have ever thought of listing your website into one of those directories that are marketed with a little help of an armada of telephone salespeople - DON’T.

FINALLY A RELEASE

I spotted a result that mentioned a construction company that does some special residential houses and they use a specific company to provide their structural glass systems. Bingo! A call and I got my answer in less than two minutes.

TELLING ABOUT YOUR COMPANY IS NOT ENOUGH

All the companies I passed while searching had one thing in common - they talked about the company and their excellence. Forget that benefit and value selling nonsense. Sell your product for crying out loud.

I KNOW YOU WANNA KNOW IF WE GOT THE SALE
