Disastrous season start for Ferrari
Saturday, April 25, 2009 23:05Ferrari is not doing well on the track. Three races and no points, such suckiness hasn’t happened since 1981 or was it 1984. This is a near disaster since they poured lot of money coming into this season.
TERRIBLE MARKETING
What amazes me is that at the gates of such a disaster they want to react in a reasonable manner. Team manager says that they just have to set a goal to become competitive again and then work hard to get there.
Ask any fan if during the victory they want to hear “YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAA” or “We are pleased to have won and continue to do our very best in the future”. Well, I know what my reaction is right then and there… one meter in the air over the couch and staining the carpet with spilled beer.
GOOD MARKETING
Hang on to highs and slide down with the lows. Ferrari has an opportunity to strengthen their following by publicly panicking and showing sheer terror. These very human ways of dealing with failure are easy to understand. Trust me, your fans will love you for being weak. However, if you show professional management and an armada of strategy consultants they change the channel or go bowling instead of your sporting event.
WORKS WITH BUSINESS TOO
I’m jaded, I know that if I call to my mobile service provider and complain they say they are sorry and promise to see if they can do something for it, naturally they forget me as soon as I hang up. What if at the moment of dissatisfaction that company person would react with passion and rave about not having signal at the mount Farewell.
