What good Soviet Union did to us?

It spread out the boundaries of Russian language. Today we had people from all corners of the ex Soviet Union and they had that important common language to have fun and to do business. Language was the one thing they agreed upon. I have to learn it. English only gets you so far if you want or need to go deep into a foreign culture.
